Taking the Scenic Route (With a Few Detours)

At 6 years old, I proudly told everyone I wanted to do something different when I grew up.
So naturally... I became a surgeon. (Oops.) Very “standard issue.” But life, autocorrects – thankfully!

The pandemic shook things up — reawakened my inner child’s curiosity.
I discovered how emotions shape physical and mental health was far more fulfilling than just removing a diseased appendix or replacing a kidney.
(No offense, kidneys.)

I want more healthcare professionals to know this.

Turning Shadows Into Light

During the pandemic, I also met someone else...
My shadow self - avoidant attachment patterns and the magnetic pull they had for narcissistic personalities.
That was a wake-up call.

I did the hard work to build a secure attachment to myself and healthier relationships with others.

Now, I share that journey through my blog, hoping to guide others through similar healing paths.

Spirit of Adventure: Professionally & Personally

Adventure isn’t just a hobby — it’s my compass.
Whether I’m:

🧭 Pushing my limits in Queenstown, New Zealand (my thrill-seeking happy place)
🌊Escaping to Santa Barbara for a quick recharge
🍜Indulging in Thai or Korean food
🌿Hiking deep into nature’s playground
🐎Working with horses or capturing stories through my camera

I’m constantly learning and growing.

And sometimes?
I just be-es. (It’s surprisingly productive for creativity.)

When I’m off-duty, you’ll likely find me:
📚Curled up with a good book…
☕A cup of ‘decaf’ coffee in hand

Favorite fiction: Pride and Prejudice
Go-to nonfiction reads: Think and Grow Rich, The Four-Hour Work Week, A Short History of Nearly Everything, and A Brief History of Time.
